The “Gladio Alato” project was created to provide the personnel of the “66th Airborne Infantry Regiment Trieste” with a specific fixed-blade knife that incorporates the spirit, symbolism, and needs of the unit. The squared blade is reminiscent of the Gladius from which it takes its name, and the handle is a classic military tactical design, but with a high-grip texture.

Given the tactical nature of the unit’s operations, we have added features to the knife to make it suitable for emergency use, such as a glass breaker with a hole and two additional holes on the guard to allow, in case of emergency, the attachment of the knife to other equipment. The blade is sharpened one side and a dull the other.

The “66th Airborne Infantry Regiment Trieste” is based in Forlì, part of the “Friuli Airborne Brigade,” and is the only airborne infantry unit in the Italian Army.
